George Clift has been involved in Agriculture for over 40 years. After graduating from Oklahoma State University in 1979 with Animal Science and Agribusiness degrees, he went to work for Ralston Purina Company, working with feed store and large cattle, hog and dairy operations. As a District Manager for Ralston Purina, he provided business management assistance to agri-business owners, including marketing assistance and training through educational seminars for livestock owners. George worked hands on with cattle operations, assisting cattlemen with genetics evaluation, grazing management, retained ownership opportunities and ration formulation. While working the southeastern Oklahoma area, he also became involved with Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association, Junior livestock shows and the Boys and Girls Club.
George began his real estate brokerage business in Amarillo, Texas in 1997. Clift Land Brokers is now the largest farm and ranch real estate firm in the Texas Panhandle with 21 real estate brokers and sales associates.
In 2008, in an effort to better reflect his business focus, he changed the name to Clift Land Brokers, operating as a division of George Clift Enterprises, Inc. Also in 2008, George formed a partnership with Dick Bretz, and created Eslabon Properties focusing on marketing large commercial agriculture facilities, including feed-yards, dairies, meat packing facilities, and ethanol production facilities across the U. S. George is also involved in multi parcel land auction as owner of Clift Land Auctions, LP, which has successfully auctioned over 250,000 acres in four states.
George is a licensed Real Estate Broker in Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Colorado and New Mexico. In 2005, he earned the Advanced Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) designation, being only one of 500 Realtors throughout the U.S. who holds this coveted accreditation. He is the past president of the Texas Chapter of the Realtors Land Institute, the 2014 president of the RLI National Board of Directors, and in 2016 he received the Realtors Land Institute’s most prestigious honor, the 2015 Land Realtor of America Award. In 2019 he was elected to be the At-Large Director to the RLI board for a two year term.
George is a member of the National Association of Realtors and the Texas Association of Realtors. He supports his community as a member of Amarillo Association of Realtors, Amarillo Better Business Bureau, Amarillo Chamber of Commerce, Texas Cattle Feeders Association, as well as serving on the board of the Amarillo Tri-State Fair.
George and wife Kathi have three children, Bryan, Kari and Megan, as well as five grandchildren. They are partners in a 4,000 acre corn farm in Dallam County, Texas as well as development property in Lubbock, Texas. They also graze calves and feed cattle at commercial feedlots in the region.
